Risky Business (1983)

 

Like many actors there is usually one film which propels them into the spotlight. Tom Cruise’s starring role in “Risky Business” was that movie. Considered a classic teen movie, “Risky Business” is the story of Joel, a wealthy teenage boy, who experiences fun, freedom and trouble, when his parents go out of town on a trip.

A one night encounter with the prostitute Lana, quickly turns into a business proposition for Joel and his friends. Soon, however, things become very complicated, especially when it comes to dealing with Guido, Lana’s pimp. 

This film has one of the most iconic scenes in recent film history, recognizable even to people who haven’t seen the movie. The scene features Cruise dancing in his boxers and dress shirt to the Bob Seger song “Old Time Rock and Roll”. The film was written and directed by Paul Brickman, and alongside Cruise stars Rebecca De Mornay as Lana and Joe Pantoliano as Guido. The film was released in 1983.
