Salma Hayek Movies

While Hayek is not normally thought of as an actress who frequents romantic movies, that doesn’t mean that she hasn’t made any. For example, Hayek co-starred with Matthew Perry in the romantic comedy “Fools Rush In”, back in 1997.

“In the Time of the Butterflies” is a television movie from 2001, in which Hayek played Minerva Mirabal. This film is a romantic and political drama set in the Dominican Republic, in the 1950s and 1960s. And this is just one of the romantic period movies which Hayek has made. Another one is the 2006 picture “Ask the Dust”, in which Hayek played the romantic lead across from Colin Farrell, in this story set in Los Angeles, California in the 1930s.

Hayek was nominated for an Oscar for her portrayal of famous artist Frida Kahlo, in the biographic flick “Frida”. She has starred in several films made by director Robert Rodriquez. Her most recent work is the animated Shrek spin-off “Puss in Boots”, which is scheduled to be released in November of 2011. Hayek voices the character “Kitty Softpaws”.
