Meryl Streep is truly talented film actress who has shown great depth and feeling in her dramatic performances, but has also shown her natural ability as a comedic actress as well in several romantic comedies. After having acted in a few TV movies, and with a supporting role in the mainstream film “Julia” under her belt, Streep landed a supporting role in the critically-acclaimed film “The Deer Hunter”. For this role, Streep earned her very first Best Supporting Actress Academy Award nomination. The next year, Streep won the Academy award for Best Supporting Actress for another highly praised film “Kramer vs. Kramer”.  And just three years later, for her incredibly moving portrayal of Sophie in “Sophie’s Choice” she won her first Best Actress Academy Award. “Sophie’s Choice” is the story of a young Polish woman, Sophie, who had been a prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp, but is now trying to create a new life for herself in New York, with her lover, Nathan. This is one of the many romantic tear jerker movies that Streep has made so far in her career.  

In the 1990s, Meryl Streep continued to make many popular and highly praised films, such as “Postcards from the Edge”, “The House of the Spirits” and “Marvin’s Room”. In 1995, Streep starred across from Clint Eastwood in the romantic drama “The Bridges of Madison County”. Clint Eastwood directed this film and the screenplay was based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Robert Waller. Streep has continued to make films from all different movie genres. Just recently she starred in a film from the Romantic Musicals genre. Streep played Donna in the screen adaptation of the Broadway musical “Mamma Mia!”, which was released in 2008. Streep’s newest film was the delightful romantic comedy “It’s Complicated”, which also featured Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.
