Leonardo DiCaprio is normally thought of now for his roles in action, mystery or drama films, like the recent flick “Inception”, but in fact, he has starred in two pictures which are often considered two of the most romantic movies in recent decades. These films are “Romeo + Juliet” and “Titanic”. In 1996, at just twenty-two years old, DiCaprio brought to life “Romeo” in BazLuhrman’s modern day adaption of the timeless Shakespeare romance. Claire Danes starred alongside DiCaprio as “Juliet”.

The second flick is even more famous and that is the historical romance film “Titanic”, which was released just one year later. DiCaprio and Kate Winslet play star-crossed lovers Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater, who are both sailing on the R.M.S.Titanic. This period movie directed by James Cameron won a total of eleven Academy Awards. But those aren’t the only romances that DiCaprio has done. Three years after “Titanic”, DiCaprio starred in “The Beach” which is an adventure film with some romance.

But what about the other works that DiCaprio has been featured in? Well, DiCaprio was nominated for his very first Oscar when he was just twenty years old, for his role in “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?”. He has played and will also be playing two very famous historical figures of the twentieth century, Howard Hughes and J. Edgar Hoover. In 2004, DiCaprio played Hughes in Scorsese’s biographical picture “The Aviator”. And coming in November of 2011, DiCaprio will be portraying Hoover in Clint Eastwood’s film “J. Edgar”.
