John Cusack Movies

John Cusack originally became well-known for his parts in teen comedy and romance movies during the 1980s. In 1983, at just seventeen years old, Cusack landed a small part in the film “Class”. The following year, he got a small role in the movie “Sixteen Candles”, which is still today considered one of the most beloved teenage romance movies, ever made. Written and directed by John Hughes, “Sixteen Candles” stars Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall. It was in 1985, however, that Cusack landed the lead role in two semi-popular teen comedies “The Sure Thing” and “Better off Dead”.

Say Anything Movie Poster

The film which firmly cemented him as an offbeat but endearing leading man was the film “Say Anything…”. This is another classic teen romance, about two complete opposites who fall in love in the summer after their senior year of high school. This film was both directed and written by Cameron Crowe.  Cusack has continued to expand the types of films that he appears in, but he has never completely abandoned the romance movies genre. In 2001, he starred as Julia Roberts’ love interest in the romantic comedy “America’s Sweethearts”. And in 2005 appeared in another romantic comedy “Must Love Dogs” with Diane Lane. He is currently working on a film entitled “The Raven”, in which he plays poet Edgar Allen Poe.
