If you are looking for an actor who has starred in many romantic films, especially period movies, then you may want to check out some of Colin Firth’s flicks. Fairly early in his career, he starred in the romance movie “Valmont” which is set in France, during the 1700s. Then, in 1995, he brought to life Mr. Darcy, in the well-loved BBC miniseries “Pride and Prejudice”, adapted from Austen’s timeless novel. He was also part of the supporting cast of several other popular historical romance films, such as, “The English Patient” and “Shakespeare in Love”.

More recently, in 2001, he played one of the love interests in the charming romantic comedy and chick flick “Bridget Jones’s Diary”. The next year, Firth was part of the ensemble cast in the movie adaption of the Oscar Wilde play, “The Importance of Being Earnest”, which is set in late 19th century London. But Firth then embraced his musical side, when he starred in “Mamma Mia!” the adaption of the Broadway musical. For his performance as King George VI in “The King’s Speech”, Firth won the best actor Academy Award for his performance.
