Chick Flicks 2010
From the year 2010, our selection of the best chick flicks includes a wide variety of films; some that might not be thought of strictly as chick flicks, but that we think can fit into this subgenre. In creating this list, we picked films with women as the lead protagonists, or are centered on the lives and stories of women. There is everything from historical dramas, to actions films, to the typical romantic comedies. Now, we are not suggesting that these movies can only be enjoyed by females, as these pictures are all very different, which touch on many different subjects and issues. However, there are certain aspects in their stories, which will think will appeal directly to women.
Here is a little information on some of the flicks on the list just to give one a general idea. Both “Country Strong” and “Burlesque” are centered on the stories and struggles of singers. “Country Strong” is centered on a popular country singer who returns to the music scene after being in rehab. And “Burlesque” is focused on a young woman trying to establish herself as a performer in Los Angeles, California. “Never Let Me Go” is an adaptation of popular, contemporary author Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel. While “Made in Dagenham” is a historical work set in the United Kingdom, about women factory workers who stood up against discrimination. “The Kids are All Right”, a contemporary drama and comedy was nominated for several Oscars and was awarded two Golden Globes.
